Easter

Easter Sunday = 16 degrees. Hmph. Not long ago Christmas = 80 degrees. Oh well. Here are some pictures from today. Cathy's dad has been here and we are at my parents' for dinner this afternoon.

Liam wasn't as happy because he couldn't eat it before church.

Rob's Official Press Release on the Favrepocolypse

I knew something bad had happened when I felt a disturbance in the force. Then I got 5 text messages in about 8 minutes, some gloating, some crying. Then I quick checked espn.com, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel website, and one of my favorites, The Wisconsin Sports Bar, and saw that yes, the Favrepocolypse has occurred. This is a day that will live in infamy. I can tell you the exact spot I was when Reggie White signed, I can tell you to the inch where I sat for the greatest day of my life, Super Bowl XXXI, and I will never forget where I was on this horrible day, March 4, 2008.

In an effort to stem the tide of all the anti-Packerites that I allow to be my acquaintances and their nasty texts and e-mails and to help my fellow Packer disciples understand/deal with this dark day I thought I would issue this press release.

I have to say that my reactions have run the gamut from initial "NOOOOOOOO!" to "I hate you Ted Thompson" to "why, why, why?" to "Please, Brett, come back for one more year!" to the current lost and confused feeling I have. I think that is where I will stay for the next couple of days as I try to digest the horrible news of the NFL's all-time greatest quarterback and savior of the 12-time World Champion Green Bay Packers. It is going to hurt that Liam and Owen will never remember seeing Favre play. I guess I can now tell old geezer stories of the iron man and his accomplishments.

I think this might hurt more because after the kick in the shorts of losing the NFC Championship game on the hallowed and frozen tundra of Lambeau Field to an inferior NY Giants team we now get the preverbial kick in the groin of Favre's unnecessary retirement. Why don't we go out and get some free agents? Why doesn't our management seem a little more appreciative of our best player ever and his ability to still be the best in the game? All questions I will have to answer over the next couple of weeks.

I recently just started watching Sportscenter after my self-imposed 1 month ban following the NFC Championship loss. Now, I don't know if I want to hear the Favre discussions either. I do want to watch the tributes to the greatest QB of all-time, but it still is going to hurt.

Anyway, hang in their everyone, just think, it only took about 20 years and 30 QB's between Starr and Favre. I'll only be 56 the next time we get a franchise QB (ugh.)

Signing off from the Frozen Northland, More to come later.
